well, i just gave my best friend the Twilight series last weekend, and i'm pretty sure that she's around the ending of the third book already. the text messages she's been sending me have been hillarious.

i read Twilight because i had heard so much hype about it, from the internet, my students, even a guy at the airport. so i went out, bought the first book, and was hooked.

even though the writing style lacked polish, and the story didn't flow as easily as it could have., it was still entertaining to read. enought so that i went and bought the next two books.

New Moon (book #2) succeeded in messing with my emotions. but i couldnt really get into it because, all the while, i was frustrated that bella was such a weak character. in the sense that she only had two reactions to things-cool indifference (pretend, of course, because she was "scared" deep down), and self-righteous anger. all in all, if i ever met a person in real life who acted as Bella did, i'd probably throw her down a flight of stairs out of pure frustration at her lack of common sense and moral compass. the ending of new moon was a pretty little bow on the rest of the book, as she finds comfort in Edward and ignores the fact that she ripped her best friends heart out.

eclipse (book 3) was a lot of bella being bella. running from things, being foolishly self-sacrificial. basically i read it because i wanted to get to the end. and for some reason, im hooked on the story line of these books, not so much the writing. i just want book 4 so i can know who dies, who goes where with whom, and if Bella ever becomes a vampire (and what her powers will be...). i'm a nerd, and even though i abhorr most things about these books, i still love them. weird.
