Hope for my grandpa.

lame play on words. sorry. There's a new woman in my grandfathers life. My grandma died my sophomore year of highschool, and it was one of the worst shocks of my life. She called me from the hospital when she fell and broke her hip and we talked about how i needed to get married soon because Grandpa wanted great-grandkids. i laughed and replied "i'm only 15! your crazy." two weeks later she was gone and we were going to her funeral. she contracted pneumonia while in the hospital and died.

then, my senior year of highschool, my grandpa started seeing this woman named Dolly. grandma had been a chorus dancer in her youth (you know the movie easter parade? she's in it), and apparently, so had Dolly. mind you, my grandma was about 6 ft tall. dolly was about 4 1/2 ft tall and almost as round. so excuse my incredulity. Dolly was funny. She wrote an autobiography, had it published, and gave us all (every single one of us) a signed copy for christmas. i could hardly contain my glee when i recieved it (sarcasm, in case you can't tell). Well, Dolly started witholding food from grandpa. he seriously lost maybe 50 pounds. that's NOT ok when you're approaching 80 and already gangly and scrawny as it is. he finally broke it off with her last year.

now, i haven't met Hope. He just moved back into the old folk's home about 3 months ago or so, and i guess that's when he met her. Dad says she's a very sweet old lady, hailing from south carolina "or something like that" (his exact words). She is a widow of a high-ranking military officer, and she used to teach disabled children how to swim. dad says that she doesn't sound like Dolly at all, and that he's happy about Grandpa and Hope finding love at their age after all of what they've been through.

the wedding is in june.

my sister told me we have to rock/paper/scissors for flower girl and ring bearer. i said no.
